Prostatic hypertrophy pathology
- Highly enlarged prostate and urinary bladder.
- Two lateral lobes of the gland press and narrow the urethra while the intermediate is protruding into the bladder lumen thus preventing normal urine outflow.
- The prostate is nodular and hard by consistency.
- The bladder has a thickened wall and the mucosa shows rough architecture due to hypertrophy of its muscle wall.
