Glioblastoma multiforme – pathology and pictures
- Extreme cellular atypia!
- Different in shape – (round, polygonal, starry-like) and size tumor cells are located chaotically in a ‘net’ of cell projections.
- There are plenty of ‘monstrous’ appearing giant multinucleted cells .
- The tumor stroma is rich in blood vessels.
- Common findings are hemorrhages (H) and areas of necrosis (N).
- Around necrotic areas are found ‘pseudopalisading’ tumor cells.
