Glioblastoma multiforme

  • Extreme cellular atypia!
  • Different in shape – (round, polygonal, starry-like) and size tumor cells are located chaotically in a ‘net’ of  cell projections.
  • There are plenty of ‘monstrous’ appearing giant multinucleted cells .
  • The tumor stroma is rich in blood vessels.
  • Common findings are hemorrhages (H) and areas of necrosis (N).
  • Around necrotic areas are found ‘pseudopalisading’ tumor cells.
