Fibroadenoma of the breast

  • Benign fibro- epithelial tumor, which clinically can be mistaken for breast cancer.
  • The epithelial component forms glandular-like structures covered with tubular epithelium.
  • Connective tissue stroma at some places is presented by immature fibrous tissue with scant amount of collagen
  • There are two types of fibroadenoma – pericanalicular (stroma is concentrically grown around dilatated ducts) and intracanalicular fibroadenoma (stroma pushes the ducts to form ‘slit-like’ ducts).
  • Fibroadenoma of the breast
